Mediation is a voluntary and confidential process in which a neutral third party, known as a mediator, assists individuals or groups in resolving conflicts and reaching mutually acceptable agreements. Unlike litigation or arbitration, mediation focuses on collaboration and communication, allowing the parties involved to maintain control over the outcome.
During mediation, the mediator facilitates discussions, encourages open communication, and helps identify the underlying issues and interests of each party. The goal is to find a solution that satisfies everyone involved, fostering a sense of cooperation and understanding.
Mediation is commonly used in various contexts, including family disputes, workplace conflicts, commercial disagreements, and community issues. It offers several benefits, such as:
Mediation offers several key benefits that make it an attractive option for resolving disputes. It is a cost-effective and time-efficient process, often resolving conflicts much quicker and at a lower cost than traditional litigation. Mediation is also confidential, ensuring that the details of the dispute and the resolution remain private. Additionally, it promotes collaboration and communication between parties, helping to preserve and even improve relationships. By empowering the parties involved to actively participate in finding a mutually acceptable solution, mediation fosters a sense of ownership and satisfaction with the outcome. Overall, mediation provides a flexible, professional, and empathetic approach to dispute resolution.

Mediation is a structured and confidential process. It usually begins with individual, private conversations, followed by a joint meeting where appropriate. The mediator supports open, balanced discussion to help those involved reach a mutually acceptable way forward..
Many mediations are resolved within a single day. More complex or sensitive situations may require additional sessions, depending on the needs of those involved.
Not necessarily. Mediation can take place face-to-face or remotely, and where needed, discussions can be facilitated without parties being in the same space.

Yes. Mediation is a confidential process. What is discussed is not shared outside of the mediation unless all parties agree, or where there are legal or safety obligations.
Yes. Mediation is a voluntary process. It works best when all parties are willing to engage, even if they feel uncertain at the outset.
Mediation is effective in many situations, including workplace, professional, and complex disputes. However, it may not be appropriate where there are serious safety concerns, safeguarding issues, or where formal investigation is required.
Mediation often improves understanding and communication, even where full agreement is not immediately reached. This can help reduce escalation and support more constructive next steps.
Mediation is typically quicker, more cost-effective, and less adversarial than formal procedures. It allows individuals to retain control over outcomes and supports the preservation of professional and personal relationships.

We believe in fair and transparent pricing and will always discuss and agree fees with you before any mediation takes place.
Fees vary depending on the complexity of the mediation, the number of parties involved and the anticipated duration of the process.
A clear fee proposal will be provided and agreed in advance, ensuring there are no unexpected costs.
Please contact us for a confidential discussion and personalised quotation.
To ensure that we can offer appointments to all those who wish to use our services as efficiently as possible, it is really important that when an appointment is made to see one of our mediators that it is kept unless there is a very important reason not to.
We appreciate that it is not always possible to keep a meeting date and of course for emergency situations then this is understandable, however, if you cancel your appointment without a suitable reason with less than 48 hours’ notice (excluding weekends) we reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee.
This also applies to us having to cancel/end a meeting early if you are in breach of the Agreement to Mediate, for example if you allowed anyone else to be in the mediation (on or off camera) without prior agreement from the mediator and the other party.
Whilst we would always prefer not to charge cancellation fees we have put this policy in place so that we can be as fair as possible to all of our clients.
Please see the table below for the short notice cancellation charges that we apply.
Less than 48 hours £250
Less than 24 hours or No Show £500
Where you have money on account with us this fee will be taken from the available funds. For the purpose of clarity, at the mediation stage, if one client cancels at short notice then these charges will apply to the client that cancelled, if it is joint decision to cancel the appointment then this fee will be shared.
If you cancel with short notice but wish to re-book a session with us we will apply the charge and will only make the further booking once this has been paid in full.
For legal aid clients who receive our service free of charge we are contractually unable to charge a cancellation fee. However, we cannot accept last minute cancellations from any of our clients as this makes our service difficult to operate efficiently. If you do cancel your appointment with us at short notice (within 48 hours) and are in receipt of legal aid we will offer you one further appointment only before we will refuse any further bookings.
By agreeing to meet with us you accept the application of this cancellation policy in relation to all of the services that we offer.
This policy is at the discretion of Always Mediate Solutions Limited.
